Listening & Speaking, Course Outline

 


Course Evaluation:

  • In Class Test No.1 = 10%

  • In Class Test No.2 = 15%

  • Assignment No.1 (Group Presentation) = 10%

  • Assignment No.2 = 10%

  • Homework = 5%

  • Attendance = 5%

  • Mid-Term Exam = 15%

  • Final Exam = 30%


Course Description: “Watch, Listen and Speak” has been designed to improve individual ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations. This course will demonstrate how English should be adapted for various situations. This course will be based around oral English, using discussion and debate to analyse how the English language can be used effectively. Listening and vocabulary are integrated within the course. Role-play and group activities will be used regularly. Supplementary resources will be used throughout the course in addition to the textbook. Assignments should be submitted on A4 size paper or on floppy disk, they should be typed using “Microsoft Word” only, hand written work will not be accepted.


Objectives: By the end of this course students will be able to:

●    Use a variety of methods to improve speaking and listening.
●    Distinguish the difference between direct and indirect speech.
●    Apply appropriate English to various situations.
●    Improve pronunciation.

●    Tapestry Listening and Speaking 3 Textbook.
●    Video clips, movies and other visual media.
●    Tapes, Cd’s and other audio material.
●    Internet.
●    Lesson handouts.
