Lesson Plans for "Watch, Listen & Speak"

 

 

Listening & Speaking, Assignment No. 2:

"Unprepared Speaking"

Instructions: You will be given a picture to look at. Study the picture for a short time. You are required to describe the picture in your own words, expressing your opinions about the picture. Begin by introducing the picture then tell the class your thoughts and feelings:

Some examples of the style of language you can use:
 

"The picture makes me think about..."

"It reminds me of..."

"In my opinion..."

"I think that..."

"I like the picture because..."

"I don't like this picture because..." etc.

The audience will ask one or two questions after your speech. During the speeches the audience should consider questions to ask.

NOTE: Your speech should be between one and two minutes without questions.

Assessment: This assignment is worth 10% of this course.


Grades are awarded as follows:

 

  • Professionalism (body language etc.) - 25%

  • Pronunciation & Vocabulary (clarity etc.) - 20%

  • Structure & Grammar (Introduction etc.) - 20%

  • Fluency (speed, gaps etc.) - 25%

  • Response to questions - 10%
